I'm having a weird problem - I've been tackling the various points in the Sea for a while now, and have gotten virtually nothing from any of the combats. I finally equipped my familiar with a fish scaler, which started getting me dull scales, but I've gotten nothing else -- which means I can't get past the Octopus' Garden. Any suggestions?

basically you need a whole bunch of +item% to get drops... take an item familiar up to 35lbs. (if you can... 20 in weight, sympathy, empathy, leash) at least and you should get some drops more often... i've equipped a bounty hunting helmet and pants, bottle rocket crossbow, grateful undead t shirt, mer-kin takebag (off-hand), order of the silver wossname, bvr monocle, and the scuba gear... with the little bitty bathesphere on my familiar i'm at 15lbs.... all told, that's +128%... - the 100% for the scuba gear and i'm barely breaking even and I get an average amount of drops...
if you are looking specifically for sand dollars, the method i've begun using that works quite well (with the skills necessary) is to use olfaction on a mer-kin scavenger and then spend 5 sand dollars on sea grease... repeat... all in all, it's still a relatively slow process though... after 200 adventures/day i only end up making maybe 25-40 more sand dollars than i started with... keep plugging away guys, you'll get it |
