Nyhtime,
The link showed a reasonably simple heal build that takes a balanced approach between active mini heals and large spike heals. I wouldn't recommend it for GvG although it would give you the basic set up from where you can arrange a build of your own. Most Monks playing in Team Arenas at the moment tend to favour divine boon as an enchantment and tend to run more of a divine/protection/heal build than just heal. The build works well in PvE (gets a little boring doing nothing but spike heals though so the small 5 mana heals come in handy to make sure you're still awake) and i used something very similar to solo heal Hells Precipice, Abaddons Mouth and Defend Droknars (although the Defend one was a bit on the challenging side). I've also used most of those skills in HoH and GvG so if you're new to PvP Monking I'd suggest mucking about with it and testing out the skills. My standard build has minor prot and divine runes, superior healing and scalp (+3+1) and a major vigor on my PvE Monk. To compensate for the health loss of the Superior I use Brohn's Staff and find the +60 health modifier handy to get to 506 health. The skills I dont leave home without are Offering of Blood [E] (i run this to get 15 energy from the 5 to cast it), orison (probably the most useful skill in game and a handy small/self heal), dwaynas kiss, heal party and res (either hard or soft depending on needs). From those 5 skills i change the other 3 as required and allow for flexibility. Give your build a go and let us know how it works for you, if you need a hand post here or give me a buzz in game (igns in sig)

lol, i just read what i posted before work this morning.
With regard to taking heal party it is not worth taking unless you're playing in an 8 person team and then only as an emergency heal. 15 mana for a long cast time 80 odd point heal is very situational but a get out of jail free card when you're struggling to catch everyone. Offering of Blood is good for Arenas and PvE where you usually cant count on anyone to replenish your mana source but if you're thinking of HoH or GvG you can set it up with the team and maybe get a W/Mo to bring Succor, N or /N to bring Blood Ritual or another option still is to get 2 monks to go Mo/N and bring blood ritual for each other...the point here is that where you cant rely on others you need to cover your own bases. If you're looking more for an 8 man healing build this is the one I used first time I won HoH with my Monk and I quite like it still: Mo/Me Orison of Healing (basic foundation of build and self heal) Healing Breeze/Heal Other (i've always prefered breeze but a lot of PvPers i know debate whether enchants should ever be used to heal, heal other is a good value spike heal but i personally prefer breeze as another self heal but more useful than touch) Word of Healing {E} (great value heal for 5 mana) Dwaynas Kiss (essential PvP healing spell - hexes everywhere) Healing Seed (essential in HoH especially but i tend to take into UW, FoW, SF & GvG too) Inspired Hex (a bit of fun as a hex remover, u get to play with whatever u capture) Channeling (a good mana source in HoH where you're close to the action, not so good in GvG) Res (depending on the requirements of the team....in some gvgs i've taken another hex removal or condition removal as required, in hoh i'd take res sig and in pve i prefer rebirth or ressurect) Have fun and Enjoy Healing

Real's build is good. I've seen it in action and it works really well.
At the moment I use a heal /prot mixed build with the following skills in GVG as a N/Mo using OOB for my elite and energy management. It's not what you'd call amazing but in a team of 2 or 3 monks it works well for me and my guild. I used to have a PVE monk but got rid of him so now as I have all skills unlocked I generally just roll one for PVP when required. Orison of Healing Dwayna's Kiss Protective spirit Aegis Mend ailment (nice spammable condition removal spell) Remove Hex Healing Breeze OOB (E) 16 in healing (1+3) 10 prot (9+1) 3 in blood and the remainder in divine with a +1 rune. I only really take breeze for myself when I'm being attacked by 1 or 2 warriors and then I use the mend conditions and orison on myself. So far I find it takes 3 warriors really going for it to take me down (as long as there isn't a mesmer around to shut me down..bloody mesmers). Really IMO when it comes to monking it's down to what you feel works for you, the build you are in and the general builds you will meet. The above is multi purpose for me with the only problem being when I try to counter good co-ordinated ranger spike damage. I added aegis to the build for this reason in the hope that the target would avoid the majority of spikes allowing my healing to be more use. So far so good really. I'm not one of these uber experts and I know many monks out there who make me look very bad but this build is working for me and my guild at the moment in GVG. |

interesting build mate and i'm not going to question it as i die a lot less with you monking in GvG.
What about dropping your healing, upping your prot and taking reversal of fortune instead of healing breeze? I've been favouring 12,12,12 lately and if you're running divine boon and reversal you're healing for about 160 on a 7 mana cast which to me presents value.

I tend to use breeze more for countering any bleeding/poison or hex degen I might get as I tend to use the mend ailment/remove hex on team mates whilst keeping myself up with orison and breeze. That way I find that I stay alive and can also help out the healing on others at the same time.
I get very multi task sometimes when I monk in GVG. But anything is worth a try. I'll try running with that next lot of GVG's. I really need to get a handle on this boon stuff. Never really tried it before. |

Divine Boon isn't too bad but it's the Reversal of Fortune that I see as being important.
I went with a couple of Guildies to kill Rotscale the level 30 Bone Dragon in Talmark Wilderness and just hit RoF to heal the party (only skill i used) I haven't been able to find the right TA build to suit my style but i'm thinking i probably need to work on the use of divine intervention and infuse health.
