Mountain Troll Farming

Before the Griffons were farmed out of existence I found time to visit both the Griffons outside of Augory Rock and the Trolls outside of Droknars forge. The hope at the time was that alternating runs would minimise the chance of any anti farming code providing lessened drop quality. To be honest I couldn't tell you if that worked but I got to kill stuff.

To get to the Trolls just take the Northern exit from Droknars Forge and proceed to the cave on the left hand side. A couple of months back there was barely anyone doing it (although the 168xp per kill almost makes it worth it for accumulating skill points) but now you could just follow the Monk/Elementalists out of the door. The path is shown here:

The following screenshot showed a conservative build that was used to solo the trolls (see the W/Mo Griffon farming post in builds and templates as I used the same for both):

Julki loves Trolls more than anyone else I know. While I'm yet to see anything that would convince me it is THE place to make gold now that Griffons are gone there are some like Julki (who convinced other Guildies who are now equally obsessed) who believe otherwise.

I'm happy with the 40 unused skill points on my Warrior and am using Hydras to boost my Monk. While the Troll run is much quicker than a hydra run and earns more xp there are choices as to what you wish to achieve.

The way that made the troll run more bearable for me was visiting the collector north of rankor with the mountain troll tusks and trading 5 with a total value of 40g to the trader for a collectors weapon which has a merchant value of 125g. The run to the collector isn't too easy and for that reason I'd suggest you hold onto mountain troll tusks and take a bundle of at least 100, possibly even waiting to take 250!
