Also, I should know a ton about this, It's somewhat a reminder of Final Fantasy 6, as the machines they drive in the beginning and throughout certain points in the game, as well as some you fight, are called Magi-Tech Armors. MagiMechTech.
It's also a reference to Battletech, Robotech, and a few other games/movies/animé. Including Mech Warrior.

dwarf bread

Elves are short, willowy, and light in the loafers. Elfin bread is light and airy and melts in your mouth. Dwarves are tall, stout, hairy and hardy. Their bread can also be used as a blunt instrument.

Giant Castle Map

When you finish the map, the quatum duck says "Thanks, but the sorceress is in another castle". This is a reference to Super Mario Bros. (old game). Whenever you beat a castle, a toad (weird mushroom-type person) says "Thank you, but the princess is in another castle".
