Server Status Feed

Hi there,

I noticed on your main CoH page that you have the CoH server status feed. I have found the url to the feed but was wondering how you implimented it. I tried using rss and it didn't seem to like that. I would really appretiate any help, and thank you.

Hi Teelk,

If it were an easy solution I'd be happy to provide it to you, but it boils down that we download the page every 5 minutes, use a rimbam of shell commands that strip it's contents and then re-use another ringamajing of other commands to rebuild it to fit on our site..

So it's not really an exportable method that I can provide you unfortunately. It'll require some moderate/expert knowledge of shell scripting (thus you also need shell+cron access at your host) including sed, wget, tail, head and grep..

We use pretty much the same method to show those dev posts on top of our page..

Well... I really appretiate the reply.

I could get shell access, I just wish I was more savvy about this sort of thing. But, thanks again for taking the time to explain the nature of it anyway.

It's unfortunate also that CoH doesn't provide character information for download, like WoW and other MMORPG's. It would make for some really nice website integration. You can see what I mean by this site. http://www.hofguild.net/portal.php?page=3

Of coarse, if these things are available and I'm just slightly inept at finding them, feel free to tell me where to go to do so.
