I don't understand how one goes about getting 'married' on KoL anyway.

IRuleSoMuch or Darkrift, or anyone.. please explain this.

Right now it's not an official thing. It's just "let's hold a ceremony in one of the chat channels, and put it in our profile." Or sometimes, people actually get married in real life. That's about it.

They stated it over the years. Mostly over radio shows, I know. Marriage becomes such a huge political issue these days, and they just didn't want to touch it. Plus, there's really no benefit to it in-game, so you could hold your own impromptu ceremony with some friends in clan chat and get the same effect.

It would be cool all they would have to do would to add a gift item of a set of wedding rings and it would show up in your signature that you are married to the individual with the other ring. Is this possible? And the text that comes up would a witty version of a wedding ceremony and the computer would insert the usernames into it

KoL Marriage seems like a whimsical concept to me, I'd laugh if it were made official like the above ideas xD

Well this is something new to me. I did not know ColdFront LCC did the whole marriage thing. We actually do something like it on the xat.com website/chatboxes. But you can also have a "best friend forever" or you have the option to divorce the person. A little heart shows up next to your name when you get married.

i think that it is a lot of work to do for something that would just cause more problems and make people mad.
