What would make the Marketplace more useful to you? Please post your suggestions in this thread.

How about being able to choose more than 1 thing at a time to buy?
a check box with a text box beside it. Check the item(s) you want, and the amount in the box.

This would help shopkeepers because people would buy items based on convience and not just always look for the cheapest in the Mall.

I have an idea. Lets Add some potions that give adventures.
Adventurers Potion: Gives 5 to 8 more adventures per potion
Cost: 300 meat
Travelers Potion: gives 2 to 5 more adventures per potion
Cost: 150 meat.
Aution House.
It is very similar to the flea market, but it is different. You aution off an item, you set up the starting price and you set up how many hours is it going to be auctioned. The highest bidder gets the item. And you get meat out of it. But before you aution off an item, you pay 10 meat.
Battle Arena: You fight enemies in the battle arena. The more battles you win, the more points you get and the more items you can get at the arena store.

dartharch, somehow I believe the question was about the Marketplace page here at KoL Coldfront, not about adding game content.

To answer the question: the Marketplace is already very useful (at least to type-A-personality nerds like me ), and thanks for providing it. But there are a few things that could be improved.

• Last year, there was a post by dotts about showing/plotting a median PPU rather than than the average. As far as I can tell, this never happened.
• Using the medians should help avoid or reduce the "glitches" that happen when someone buys an item for far above (or occasionally below) its usual market value. This is very annoying for plots, since one junk data point will change the plot scaling so you can no longer look at the trends in the "real" data. (I wouldn't really care if you used something other than medians to achieve this.)
• It would be very nice if the plots could show a better indication of the range of prices. Something like a candlestick plot showing the range between the 20th and the 80th percentile would do this nicely for items with high Quantity Sold counts. Of course, it would also be completely meaningless for rarely-sold items, but you could set some threshold based on the quantity.
• It would be nice if you could make the raw data available for download. (Any identifying information would need to be scrubbed first.) Did I mention I was a type-A personality nerd yet?

I second that as a good idea.
I think the marketplace could use shops that are related to various aspects of the game-A Beach Shop, Pirate Shop Etc.
The items sold there could affect what happens in those areas, maybe even aid in new quests when they come along.
There could also be seasonal vendors who set up there from time to time.

Folks, I'm pretty sure they mean the Marketplace feature of the Coldfront site, and not The Market in game.

I'd like to see the Greatest Percentage Increase list somehow have items used in raffles filtered out. I know that meat vortices didn't really jump to over 230K apiece (to give a recent example). I'd also like a version of the Greatest Price Increase/Decrease lists without rare/expensive items included, since those always dominate the lists. Maybe filter out anything going for more than 75 or 100K. Finally, I'd love the subsections of the full item list (Accessories, Booze, etc.) have clickable links to resort at the top of the table just like the full item list does.

Really, though, you guys do a fabulous job. I never adventure without a (and more often, several ) KoL Wiki windows up.

Firstly, thank you to those who understand what The Marketplace actually is.

Secondly, thanks for all the great ideas. I'm going to try and sort through and see what we can do with these. Again, we really appreciate your input!
