Custom Item Database
For a brief time about a year to a year and a half ago I was working on a custom item database. Originally, it was all done in straight html. The amount of work required to make new items was extremely time consuming. If I had known PHP and MySQL I could have worked miracles!
Then another idea occurred to me; Make it a Wiki. I began building it with MediaWiki (the same thing the Wikipedia and the Coldfront Wiki run off). The setup was pretty slick, I had managed to make the wiki look similar to KoL (like with the dialogue boxes and stuff), but then my lack of knowledge about web server security got the better of me. About 3 months of hard work had gone into it and I got locked out of my own database by a hacker.
I shelved the idea when I decided to leave KoL and focus on other endeavours, but I've been toying with the idea again and I want to give it another go. This time however, I'd like help from the community. If there is anyone interested in this idea who's got a web server, can run PHP, MySQL and MediaWiki (and knows how to make sure it is secure) drop me a message here, kmail me, or Gmail thoughtstipated at you know what dot com. Thanks!
